About the institution
FOA - Fund for Organic Agriculture is a non profit organization established 1991 as a Foundation for the purpose of support and development of organic agriculture in the Czech Republic. It has been transformed to a Fund on March 26th, 1999.
The Fund mission is:
- support of education, research and development in the area of organic agriculture and environment protection, search for funding of such programs and projects
- development of environmentally friendly organic agriculture methods under the condition of sustainable development
- development and support of agro-environmental programs, especially in Protected Landscape Areas
- support and implementation of pilot projects in ecology and agriculture and landscape protection
- wider support of rural development and social partnership
Topics solved in the frame of international research projects belong to the actual interest areas, for instance new forms of organic agriculture methods development and potential of their application in the Czech Republic, search for new methods of biodiversity protection etc...
FAO activities allow co-operation of research institutions and private companies in the area of ecology and organic agriculture, with a special focus to creation of flexible expert groups with close relation to academic sphere.
